The Position







Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.









Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff. This position is located in our Donovan (CDL) office within the DMV Field Services Division.

Incumbent is responsible for the effective management and administration of the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Third Party program. Incumbent must plan, coordinate, and direct classroom and field instructions for certification of CDL State examiners and Third Party Certifiers to ensure proper training and uniformity in administering and scoring CDL and non-CDL skills test to all applicants. Incumbent will be responsible for conducting full certification academies (40 classroom hours training) and annual recertification training; ensures the CDL testing and licensing program meets Federal and State laws; provide information and interpretation of the program and its rules and regulations to department staff, Third Party companies and schools, and the general public to ensure their understanding and compliance. Incumbent will be required to monitor program operations through on-site visits, conduct audit inspections, initiates reports, and maintains records.









The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses and Identification Cards shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation, which include Espionage, Sedition, Treason, Terrorism, Transportation Security Incident, Improper Transportation of a Hazardous Material, Unlawful Possession of Explosives, Murder, Making any Threat concerning a Lethal Device, or Racketeering. Additional Real ID criteria provides that the DMV shall not employ a person if they have been convicted of a felony within 7 years of their application or if an applicant was released from incarceration for one of these crimes within five years of their application including Unlawful Firearm Violations, Extortion, Fraud, Bribery, Smuggling, Immigration Violations, Distribution of Controlled Substances, Arson, Kidnapping, Rape or Sexual Abuse, Assault With Intent to Kill, Robbery or Fraudulent Seaport Entry. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

















Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)











Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.























Special Requirements











Some positions require a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.



















Some positions require a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.



















Additional Position Criteria











Experience in the processing and issuance of Commercial Drivers licenses is required.



















Experience in processing driver licenses, vehicle titles and registration is required.
